Located a few blocks from the United Palace is the easygoing and warm Marcha Cocina. Outfitted with a long bar, high tables and convivial crowd, this sea-blue oasis feels like the ideal Caribbean refuge. Sure, the music is loud, but with service so down-to-earth and food that impresses beyond what its casual vibe might suggest, who's really complaining? The menu is broad and affordable, which makes a perfect excuse to sample widely. Staples from tortilla Española to gambas al ajillo are delicious executions of classic tapas. Luscious ribbons of Spanish ham are on display in the hongos e higos coca, a chewy flatbread also topped with mushrooms, figs and buttery almonds. It would be blasphemy to skip the dates wrapped in bacon or the thick-cut yucca fries.
