As if a stroll along City Island Avenue isn't already transporting, the wrought iron “Eiffel Tower” in front of Bistro SK completes the dreamy picture. The husband-wife team of Maria Caruso and Stephane Kane lure locals into a snug, dimly lit space with soft music and an ambience par excellence. The art of service is practiced both in the bar and the dining room. The cooking here is more solid than revelatory, but always satisfying. It's classic bistro fare: tender and garlicky escargots persillés; creamy duck and chicken liver terrines with fresh, crusty bread. The kitchen lets its ingredients speak for themselves, as evidenced in a sea bass special in a delicate white-wine butter sauce. To close, the traditional tarte Tatin never disappoints.
