There are flowers everywhere, making this discreet little restaurant in the Lowell Hotel one of the prettiest around—and ideal for trysts and tête-à-têtes. Efficient, white-jacketed waiters scurry about, while unruffled, suited managers keep everything on an even keel and never fail to recognize a regular.Lunch fills with locals as, alongside the French à la carte, there’s a 40-minute menu of easy charm for those with afternoon assignations. At night the menu expands to include the wider Mediterranean. Morocco, home to the eponymous painter’s magnificent Majorelle Garden, also lends some influence with a selection of tagines. Classic desserts remind you why you first fell in love with everything Gallic: oeuf à la neige, soufflés, baba au rhum.
