Description
After years of working behind the scenes in kitchens across the city, Chef Surbhi Sahni strikes out on her own with this cute FiDi nook within earshot of the South Street Seaport. The brick-and-mortar opening comes after operating as an online-only confections shop in 2019 and later pivoting to meal delivery. At the front, find her sweet, jewel-like mithai in colorful gift boxes alongside South Asian cookbooks and condiments. In the back, dinner is less like a night out and more like a warm invitation into her home. The plant-forward menu offers homey, comforting dishes from across all regions of India. Highlights include Maharashtrian crispy tapioca cakes; Delhi street salad; and pan-fried fish crusted in rice flour, whole red chilies and ginger.
