Passing through the SHIKI Boutique & Sakethek – where high-quality Japanese tableware, knives, fans and other items are available for purchase – diners enter a small adjoining room with seating for up to eight at the counter, making for an intimate atmosphere. The design is minimalist and elegant. Fabulous sushi and sashimi are prepared before your eyes – the highlight of an extensive sushi kaiseki surprise menu that includes nigiri, gunkan and temaki, interspersed with small dishes such as chawanmushi, steamed fish or meat grilled over binchotan charcoal. Determined by the best ingredients available, additional small bites complement the 11 courses of the set menu. The chefs serve the dishes directly across the counter and, together with the sake sommelier, guide you through the evening. The sake selection is impressive – the pairing option comes highly recommended. This one-of-a-kind experience kicks off for all diners at 6.30pm; dinner itself starts at 7pm.
